Example

Title:
Pyromaniacal Ants

Silly Summary:
A special ant takes over a town in Texas before it is summarily stepped on by a Fire Warden.

Goal:
X word novel (50,000? 100,000? our first pass, so 20,000?)

Brainstorm (img)
Mind-map of our idea - which might then change the book / etc

Chapters (text)
Once we've brainstormed a mind-map - pick sufficiently dense nodes.
These nodes are our chapters.
Chapters should be black-boxed
We know what we started a chapter with
We know what we end up with after the chapter
Therefore a chapter is just the bridge between the entrance and exit of the box

Sub-nodes
Each chapter should have 1-15 sub-nodes - these can be paragraphs, 1-2 pages, or whatever
Similar to chapters, each sub-node should be black-boxed
We know what we started the sub-node with
We know what the sub-node ended with
Therefore a sub-node is just the bridge connecting the two.
